Hi there! I’m Tabitha. I’m a bookkeeper by day and a writer, reader, and baker by night.
This blog is a celebration of the work-in-process, the time between picking up the new project and the final piece. I love hearing about other people’s creative processes and can’t get enough of artist and author interviews and studio tours. I’m an amateur (in the best sense of the word), and I hope that we’ll be able to cheer each other on as we learn new skills, celebrate our successes, and commiserate on our failures.
I’m a, newlywed, cat mama, and Houston transplant. I wear sweaters way too often, love watching cooking competition shows, and usually start watching a show after the last season aired.
Some other fun facts:
-I wrote my Bachelor’s thesis on Food in Jane Austen’s novels. I loved the intersection of food, history, and literature, and came away with a whole new appreciation for Austen’s novels.
-I read a little bit of everything, but I’m particularly drawn to fantasy, murder mysteries, and children’s lit.
-I love baking pies. Everyone loves pie, and secretly I want to be the grandma with pies that make Disney birds sing as you take a bite. Someday.
-Always in my fridge: eggs, butter, wine, fresh herbs, kefir, cold brew coffee, and chicken stock.
Why Eat Up, Buttercup?
Some combination of all the buck-up, buttercup memes I’ve seen floating around, the fact that The Princess Bride is my all-time favorite movie, and the “My little buttercup” song my mom used to sing when I was little, which I recently found out is actually from The Three Amigos.
